About

BCB Cheyenne LLC (dba Bison Blockchain) was formed in 2021 with the ambitious mission to build the largest Bitcoin mining data center in Wyoming. Based on extensive research and planning, Bison’s principals made a submission to Black Hill Energy’s RFP (request for proposal) for electrical power in/around Cheyenne, Wyoming.  After being selected from more than a dozen companies — including several of the largest Bitcoin mining companies in the world — Bison negotiated a power purchase agreement with Black Hills Energy for 75MW and went to work to achieve its mission.

From this time to March 2023, Bison oversaw construction of the largest Bitcoin mining data center in Wyoming, located at the North Range Business Park just outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming in addition to completing the land entitlement process to build a second industrial scale Bitcoin mine within the Campstool Business Park in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

In March 2023, just before energization of the North Range site and commencement of Bitcoin mining operations, Bison filed suit against the owners of the North Range Bitcoin mining facility, a conglomerate of Chinese Bitcoin miners, after the conglomerate of Chinese Bitcoin miners removed Bison as the contractual host/operator of the North Range site. On September 30, 2023, Bison amended its complaint to add Bitmain to the suit.

On October 13, 2023, The New York Times broke the story on the Chinese Bitcoin miners in Wyoming and reported on connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On May 9, 2024, CleanSpark announced it would acquire 75MW of Bitcoin Mining sites in Wyoming for $18.75M (i.e., the North Range and Campstool sites) shortly after CleanSpark announced it was purchasing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoin mining machines from Bitmain in future purchase orders.

On May 13, 2024, the Biden Administration issued a Presidential Divestment Order requiring the Chinese conglomerate to divest from the North Range site near the F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

On June 26, 2024, an Evidentiary Hearing was held before the Honorable Alan Johnson regarding the CleanSpark acquisition monies. In a historic ruling in Bison’s favor, in large part based upon the testimony of Bison principal Michael Murphy, CPA, including Murphy’s analysis of the Chinese conglomerate’s "camouflaged equity,” Judge Johnson stated “it appears that Plaintiff (Bison) has a meritorious claim for relief,” and the Wyoming District Court issued Prejudgement Writs of Attachment and Garnishment, which required just over $15.5M of the CleanSpark acquisition proceeds be held by the Wyoming District Court pending results of the litigation.

In August 2024, CleanSpark announced it had completed acquisition of the two sites (for the amended purchase price of $22.5M) while in parallel paying the Chinese conglomerate’s lawyers approximately $1.3M so CleanSpark could ‘clear the North Range site’ under the Presidential Divestment Order (being done so and paid to the Chinese conglomerate’s lawyers without working with, or informing, Bison). Litigation between Bison Blockchain and the Chinese conglomerate then ramped to a feverish pace in September 2024.

In October 2024, Bison and the Chinese conglomerate settled their lawsuit, whereby the Chinese conglomerate paid Bison Blockchain $4.1M (from the attached and garnished funds) to resolve all claims.

Several of Bison’s team members remain active and involved in the Bitcoin mining industry as industrial Bitcoin miners and experts. Bison maintains a 10-year state land lease near the Campstool substation. The purpose of the lease is for a “Bitcoin Mining Site only.” Bison is committed to working with the state of Wyoming and American bitcoin miners in developing the land to maximize its value for Wyoming and to advance American Bitcoin supremacy.
